Virla LaRue Walston

Virla LaRue (Hair) Walston June 26, 1927 – November 3, 2023

On the morning of November 3rd , 2023 Virla L. Walston, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones where she joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven.

She was ninety-six. Virla was the 5th of 7 children born to Oscar Lee Hair and Coy Hazel (Richardson) Hair in Holyoke, Colorado. In 1946 Virla married her husband Don whom she was married to for 58 years. They had four children together and eventually settled down in Castle Rock, Washington where they shared their lives.

She was preceded in death by: her parents Oscar and Coy Hair, siblings Florence, Glenn, Bill, Irma, Doc and Doris, her beloved husband Donald Walston and her precious daughter Sandy (Walston) Agren.

Virla was a very outgoing woman with a remarkably positive and encouraging spirit. She treasured her many friends, family and church community dearly. Virla loved the Lord and for more than 50 years tried to seek Him in her daily walk. She was an active member within her church, The First Baptist Church of Castle Rock and devoted 50 years of service. She aided in teaching Sunday school, put forward her time as treasurer, led and took part in vacation bible school, participated in an after-school program, and assisted in many other jobs related to the church.

Virla spent much of her time at home nurturing her garden. She cherished her time spent among her flowers and always felt closer to God when she would tend to them. She was passionate about her family, always staying active and involved within their lives and she had a great many friends that she committed her love, compassion and kindness to. Virla’s selflessness, warmth and affection will be deeply missed by her children, Don (Elke) Walston, Ron (Connie) Walston, DeAnna (Les) VanDolah, son-in-law Leland Agren, her 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, cherished extended family, and many valued friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church in Castle Rock Washington, Friday
November 17 th, 2023 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
