Laren was born on June 19, 1944, in The Dalles, Oregon to Violet and Joseph "Pete" Marlow. The family moved from Klickitat, WA to Castle Rock, WA in 1951, where he attended Castle Rock Schools through his graduation in 1962.
Laren proudly served in the U.S. Navy with two tours in Vietnam. He also belonged to the Pipe Fitter Union for nearly 50 years.
Laren was dedicated to his family and helping others. He volunteered at food banks, delivered food day and night, and was actively involved in the community. He was a member of the Eagles, Lions, and Elks, helped build a school playground in the 70s, served on the fair board, school board, and spent time as a volunteer firefighter.
Laren is survived by his loving wife, Patricia B. Marlow, three of their children Garth, Wendi, and Joseph, and grandchildren Ryan, Rachel, Bethany, Kendal, Maggie, Jaidon, Lizzie, and Joey. He was preceded in death by his mother Violet, father Joseph, brother Gary, and daughter Monique.
In his free time, Laren enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, reading, golfing, playing cards with friends, going on cruises, and spending time with his grandchildren.
We weren't ready to let him go even though we knew he was suffering in the last years of his life with many health problems. He was the best husband and the most supportive father and grandfather. We carry on knowing that he is in heaven with his parents and daughter whom he loved deeply.
A graveside service will be held at Whittle and Hubbard Cemetery on Friday, April 19th, at 2 pm for family and friends, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Castle Rock Eagles.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American SIDS Institute or the Fibromuscular Dysplasia Society of America.
Hubbard Funeral Home in Castle Rock, WA, is assisting with the funeral arrangements.
